There are several levels of bobsleigh officials, each with their own set of requirements, reposibilities and privileges.
Provincial Level- Must be a member in good standing of a Bobsleigh Club or Provincial Association
- Attend an officials clinic – (held every October)
- Complete a written test on the IBSF rules and receive 80%
- Work as an official in the start and finish areas for a minimum of two years and work at least five races prior to upgrading.
National “B” Level:
- Must be a member in good standing of a Provincial Association
- Complete an oral exam on the IBSF rules with a minimum of 90%. (National “B” exams are given in October/November of each year)
- Work as an official in the start and finish areas for a minimum of two years and work at least five races prior to upgrading.
- Work as a Jury Member or Race Director on at least two races prior to upgrading.
National “A” Level
- Must be a member in good standing of a Provincial Association
- Complete an oral exam on the IBSF rules with a minimum of 90%. (National “A” exams are given in October/November of each year)
- To upgrade to IBSF International Judge your National Sport Governing Body must recommend you. You will have to have worked for a minimum of two years as a National “A” official.
