The race director is responsible for the organization of the training and the event, under the direction of the jury. Race Directors are appointed as follows:
Race Director Appointment and Qualifications
International Events
Race Director is appointed by FIBT Executive Committee Must hold an F.I.B.T. License as Jury
America’s Cup Races
Race Director is appointed by Bobsleigh Canada Skeleton Must hold an F.I.B.T. License as Jury or a National “A” License.
Canadian Championships
Race Director is appointed by Bobsleigh Canada Skeleton Must hold an F.I.B.T. License as Jury or a National “A” License.
Provincial Championships
Race Director is appointed by Alberta Bobsleigh Must hold an National “B” License or higher.
Alberta Cups
Race Director is appointed by Alberta Bobsleigh Must hold an National “B” License or higher.
Duties of a Race Director
Authorizes the use of the run for training and competition under the direction of the Jury.
In the event that the Jury should ascertain faults that affect the competition, the Race Director has to ensure that such faults are eliminated.
In case of accidents, or in the event that the technical equipment should fail, he must stop the run, until the competition may be resumed under normal conditions.
Specifies the use of sun-shades in case of rain, snow or sun.
Reports all accidents immediately to the President of the Jury. The Race Director ensures that the decisions of the Jury are carried out.
Attends meetings of the Jury with the team captains. Sends out invitations for such meetings, according to the Jury’s instructions.
Has the authority to instruct all the officials, and authorizes the use of the track only after all officials are in place and the technical equipment is ready to operate.
