Stu Thorpe was an outstanding bobsleigh pilot, official, coach and a dear friend to many of us in the sport. He was also the stunt pilot for the movie Cool Runnings. This award in Stu’s name is so befitting as he was always there to help the new pilots coming into the sport. We will miss his kind and encouraging words.

The Stu Thorpe Memorial Award is awarded yearly to the best novice pilot in Alberta.
